Really good Hospitality

beautiful cottagecomfortable decorationhelpful staffconsistent maintenance
The cottage we occupied presented beauty. The decoration created comfort. Every evening, the coach house restaurant provided supper. Breakfast service occurred daily. Staff displayed helpfulness and friendliness. I recommend both the cottage and all facilities wholeheartedly. The premises displayed consistent maintenance. Lavender and hebe plants lined pathways. I felt happiness with my experience.
I did find slight wear on some furnishings. It was minor. The stay itself was great.
Location
9/10
The location allows simple access to nearby towns. It offers access to attractions. Travel to areas such as Barnstaple and National Trust properties happens easily from here. The surrounding area offers scenic beauty.

Rooms
10/10
The large bathroom in my room had a walk-in shower. The room size suited our stay. The super king size bed provided comfort. A beautiful garden surrounded the building. A hot tub existed as an extra benefit.

We had the room decorated for my partner's birthday. The hotel put in a lot of effort, a nice touch. breakfast in the restaurant was lovely, the service excellent. the hotel's location is quiet, what we needed. it was a great stay.
the lobby area carpets were quite filthy and could use replacing. the car parking area was compact, with no disabled spaces. the lack of parking was an issue.

generally good experience

quiet countrysidegreat gardenoutdoor spaceshabby entrancemissing signcold room
the location was superb with quiet countryside and great gardens. outdoor space was abundant, perfect for relaxation (i really enjoyed the fresh air!). the layout of the rooms was good and the facilities met expectations. the bathroom and shower were great features.
The main house entrance is rather shabby. a sign indicates the reception is in another building. A sign on the way in would be more helpful. the room was cold upon arrival as heating in the main house was not yet on (i got there at 4pm!).

nonexistent wifigreasy breakfast
WiFi was a no-show in the Garden Suite so I moved to a Classic room. The evening receptionist seemed unfazed by my trouble which really added to it. At breakfast self-service options were virtually non-existent just some fruit and juice. The cooked breakfast? Let's just say it swam in grease, and my dish featured a complimentary hair accessory. It feels updates are in order at this price.
