Elegant Stay

well trained staffstreamlined processluxury productscracked glass
I found the reception staff very knowledgeable about local attractions. My room included luxury bath products and a comfortable, big bed. The building displayed many period features, which I appreciated.
I noticed some cracked glass in the windows. I understand the building is listed, but replacing the panes would improve the room.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast included a variety of foods. The full English breakfast with English tea was excellent. The service was very gentle and polite (I recommend it). The breakfast experience made a positive impression.

decent room, inadequate service

rude staff
Staff were shockingly rude. They checked us in as quickly as possible but failed to tell us when check out was or when and where breakfast was being served. we requested champagne glasses to be sent to the room, but they never arrived. staff forgot to tell us that the ' spa ' was by appointment only because it's actually in the house at the back of the hotel and is a just 1 room with a sauna and shower in it. the bed was uncomfortable.

Underwhelming stay. Not quite luxury

leaky faucetmissing battery cover
My room felt a bit neglected. the bathroom had a leaky faucet, and one of the lightbulbs was out! the tv remote was also missing its battery cover. It seemed a minor detail but showed lack of attention. i expected a bit more for the price i paid.
