This hotel is in a victorian building. My room had a large size. I received complimentary prosecco because I was celebrating a birthday. The turndown service with complimentary pillow spray felt good, all the staff was pleasant .

My only slight grumble was there was not a welcome book in the room. I had to fumble my way through the coffee machine. I specifically requested a shower cap.

The location was very close to the palace theatre. It was a stone's throw away, convenient.

I found the walls to be quite thin. i could clearly hear conversations in the corridor and from adjacent rooms. the questionable cleaning was a bit disappointing. I noticed cobwebs in the high ceilings that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while.

The breakfast was amazing with a friendly team. Quality of the buffet WAS excellent.

I found that some aspects of the stay detracted from the experience. The bed WAS not stable. The wardrobe cabinet door would not stay shut without wedging a piece of paper in it. There WAS noticeable water damage on the ceiling.

I found a few issues . The walls seemed thin. I could hear noises from the adjacent room. The heating system was not effective. It did not maintain a comfortable temperature in the room. I found that the showerhead was positioned quite low. At my height, I had to crouch to use it comfortably.

the hotel lobby seemed splendid and the check in was helpful, so it made for a good start.

Finding my room in the rambling building was a challenge. Eventually, i located it with assistance. the room felt spacious. It was a little dark. the air conditioning was effective though possibly too effective because i felt cold rather than overheated.
