decent stay

super clean roomhelpful staffbuilding charactersmall portionlong waitslow service
we stayed for a couple of nights. our room, a standard double room, was super clean upon arrival. the building has a lot of character. the staff were quite helpful.
the food portions felt a bit small (especially at dinner). i asked for pastries at breakfast, but the wait was quite long. also, the drink service felt slow on occasion.

charming stay

historic villageoriginal featuresevening starslarge fireplace
the hotel is in a village steeped in history. i found many original features well-preserved. the gardens allowed me to see stars by the fire pit in the evening. the restaurant has a very old and large fireplace (something i really enjoyed).
breakfast was just mediocre, and i was given virtually raw bacon once.
Rooms
9/10
the room included binoculars for stargazing and homemade fudge. the bed had very fluffy pillows. i was able to call or whatsapp the team for requests.
Location
9/10
the hotel is in a beautiful village with a lot of atmosphere. it is close to the abbey. i could walk over the moors surrounding the area.
Service
10/10
the staff was helpful and were pretty good. they offered to drive us to an activity center. i appreciated that nothing was too much trouble for them.
Facilities
9/10
the hotel had a drying room, perfect for wet clothes (we needed it!). parking was available at the rear of the hotel. the hotel provides a base to visit several interesting landmarks.
Dining
8/10
dinner offered a great choice of menus. i found that they used local produce. breakfast also offered a good variety, including excellent black pudding.
