inconsistent experience at this hotel
inefficient staffoversalted food
the staff seemed young and eager to please. however, their efficiency was lacking. i waited a frustrating 15 minutes for drinks from the bar. my raw beef starter suffered when a waiter added excessive mustard and sauces at the table. it was ultimately inedible. the excessive salt in the food was a recurring issue and my request to omit it was ignored. the breakfast avocado was watery and ruined the toast.

The grounds are gorgeous. I enjoyed exploring the gardens. The team, especially the concierge, were helpful and knowledgeable regarding the local area. I found the free parking convenient.
The gym had limited loungers around the pool, I waited a little before securing one

The room was spacious, boasting a generous size and good furnishings. It included a comfortable bed. There were thoughtful touches, including a useful fridge and really good linens. The bathroom was also large. It featured a separate bath and shower.

The hotel is set on a historic estate with beautiful gardens, these are lovely for walks. I enjoyed the tranquil views of River Clyde and its surroundings. There is also an 18-hole golf course available .

The staff were friendly and helpful and very attentive to all needs. The concierge team showed great knowledge of the local historic region. The staff happily assisted with planning my days. This helped me.

i felt the hotel hallways were looking tired. there was worn carpet and chipped paint. in my room, i noticed chipped skirting. there were also large stains on the carpet..

the staff was attentive and helpful throughout my stay. my room offered very nice views and a chilled atmosphere. i found a huge tv with a usb port and a comfortable bed, so i slept well. the fridge in my room was useful.
the hotel is currently undergoing some refurbishments, so the reception area was temporarily relocated off the great hall.

Excellent Stay at Mar Hall

I enjoyed a wonderful stay. The room included a sitting room and outdoor patio with garden furniture. The indoor heated pool was a great addition. I found all staff to be very friendly and cute. The head gardener, Ronnie, keeps the grounds beautifully (very nice of him!).
I noticed some minor snagging issues like slightly marked walls in certain areas.

Jenna at reception was particularly helpful. Steph and Colin, the concierges, also provided excellent assistance . Staff addressed any queries promptly and with a smile. That level of attentiveness is to be commended.

The staff were amazing, zach and laurent made us laugh. the hotel has a real scottish warmth. our room was decorated beautifully. It felt luxurious (especially the bed!).
there was music playing loudly from a wedding. our dinner service was not what we expected. several menu items were unavailable.

the spa area has a moody atmosphere with great lighting. the gym features equipment that looks new and has a good range of offerings. there are limited loungers, but we were always able to find two together.
