wide selection inviting entrance
The breakfast included a wide selection. The dining room provided a beautiful space to start the day. The entrance hall had dark wood, which I liked. The overall atmosphere was inviting.
I noticed the place was like there was very little heating.

dog walking great staff warm environment building atmosphere
the location provided very good dog walking within a hundred yards. the staff provided great care and attention. the historic building had a warm environment. the building's atmosphere felt more comfortable than modern hotels that seem like clinics.
i phoned to make a reservation and asked for a quiet room. i was not informed of a fan running below the room all night.

the hotel is set in very peaceful grounds. the setting allows for quiet walks and is easily accessible from the main roads, it is a definite plus.

a relaxing escape
extensive selection comfortable retreat
i found the breakfast selection extensive.. with many options. The dining room provided a nostalgic atmosphere and featured local produce for breakfast. i found my standard double room spacious and light.
The shower in my room offered only a trickle of water. This made it difficult to have a proper shower. I would have expected better water pressure.

the room was very clean. it was an executive suite. locally sourced produce was present in the restaurant (i especially liked the ale pie).
the carpet in my room had a stain (a minor issue).
