The gated private car park was reassuring. reception staff had excellent manners. the kitchen provided boiled eggs on request. The continental breakfast was welcome. my room was perfect.

the double room included a comfortable bed and a well-stocked tea and coffee station. the room was large and provided a desk for working, a detail i appreciated. the premises felt quiet at night.

staff displayed excellent customer service and were polite. reception held my bag after i checked out and that was helpful. i was able to use the stairs, though those with mobility challenges need a lower floor.

The location was central, convenient for exploring the area.

The absence of a lift became a real issue (especially with luggage). The room's temperature control seemed faulty. I could not adjust it myself. the toiletries were rather minimal. I would have liked more options.

the location is excellent especially for a theatre trip. staff members were friendly. i found the rooms clean. the breakfast offered a wide range of breads, fruit, tea and coffee.

the decor was dull and grey. i found it unwelcoming. our room felt more like an old travellodge and i think the food was expensive for what it was.
