The grounds were fine, a lovely sight for my stay. The breakfast service was very good (especially the pastries!). The swimming pool was warm, a highlight for me.

My room was small and hot, it was not ideal. The bar prices were very high. A bottle of IPA was quite expensive. I was refused ice at the bar, disappointing.

the staff was friendly from arrival to departure.

The room felt neglected. It was close to the main building but seemed forgotten. i saw piles of rubbish near the entrance daily. the pillows were flat and lumpy. It was not ideal.

The breakfast was delicious.

My sleep was poor because of intermittent noise above the bed. It sounded like a boiler starting throughout the night. I also received the wrong meal at lunch even after advising them of my strict dietary requirements (the lunch contained ingredients I could not eat).

Really good Stay at a Gem of a Hotel

I booked a night away with dinner and breakfast. The hotel sits on fine, well-kept grounds full of beautiful flowers and colours. The barn room was clean and had everything needed, including a fridge. The staff are really good, and the food was very good.. I really praise this hotel.

The hotel felt a bit neglected. The pillows were flat. The bathroom was freezing cold.

The pool area features about fifteen beds and several chairs. The library offers a game room, and the bar includes a fireplace ' relaxation and enjoyment.

The breakfast buffet provides a great selection, ranging from fresh fruit and cereal to pastries and a full cooked breakfast. The staff were attentive and helpful.. The food is delicious.

The location was convenient for exploring the area. The staff was polite, and the building had historical charm.

I was annoyed by the clear lack of attention to detail. The bathroom floor had long, dark hairs (I don't have long dark hair). The glasses for tea and coffee were dirty with residue from previous use. The carpets on the grand stairway looked grubby with food on them for two days in a row (it was disgusting!).
