Great food and peaceful location

excellent bar superb food

The excellent bar stood out, and the food was superb. It would be worth travelling the two hours i did just for the food. The location was idyllic, and the entire place was really good (it was a GREAT surprise!).

I was happy with the location. The river Nith had a soothing sound. It was nice to watch the sheep and lambs across the river, that was very cute. The owner is an Italian chef, that was a great surprise!

I needed to chase them for confirmation. I had to ask about check in time too. The bed was brick hard, so sleeping was not comfortable at all.

underwhelming anniversary stay

greasy sauce dog poo

This place really disappointed me. the dinner i had was not good. my chicken had a greasy sauce and watery mashed potatoes. the steak my partner ordered tasted bad. i was also really upset about dog poo on the path. I nearly stepped on it.

riverside retreat was quite nice

river view delicious breakfast friendly staff

i stayed in mallard. a lovely view of the river and sheep filled the field. breakfast had much choice and tasted delicious. the staff was friendly.

the staircase was quite steep. it was not ideal.

the hotel is near to the town. it remains a bit out of the way. this ensures the place is quiet and relaxing. nice walks are close.
