average stay , some issues

decent selectionbroken tapno repair
the breakfast was reasonable , with a decent selection of items.
the cold tap in the ensuite did not work , and it clearly had not worked for some time. i reported it to reception , and they delivered a bottle of water. they assured me the tap would be fixed the next day , but no one came, and the tap remained broken.

Satisfactory Stay

handy parkinghelpful staffnoise
I found a handy free car park around back of the hotel. Access required driving through the pay carpark next to the hotel, then turning left onto the road. Another left at the junction, followed by a final left led into the hotel park. Staff proved helpful and approachable .
The snug was directly below my room and allowed noise from locals until closing time. Closing off that space after 9pm might benefit overnight guests.
Dining
9/10
The evening meal was excellent, with a deal on the wagyu burger or steak. Both meals arrived piping hot, were delicious, and filling. Breakfast consisted of a nicely done full English.
Rooms
8/10
My room overlooked the courtyard at the rear of the hotel. The bed was superb, offering comfort after a long day. The room included basic amenities for an overnight stay.
Facilities
8/10
The hotel offers free car parking, a valuable amenity. It is accessible via a specific route through a nearby pay car park. I appreciated the availability of this convenient feature.
Location
9/10
The location is near the top of the road, with access to the town. A post-supper walk around town felt okay all time. Castle Howard is located just ten miles away.
