riverside retreat, a good stay

i appreciated the excellent food . the restaurant offered superb meals, and i particularly enjoyed the savoury stack. breakfast also stood out, especially the eggs benedict (my husband said it was the best he's ever had!). i also loved the hotel's beautiful setting by the river, made for nice, peaceful walks.

the staff provided great service. michelle was particularly excellent and a real credit to the team. mark also provided great service with banter that enhanced the stay. (i really liked his sense of humour).

the restaurant offered a superb selection of food. the savoury stack proved delicious, and the full english breakfast was very popular. special dietary needs, such as dairy-free options, were also handled with no fuss.

the location next to the river is excellent and convenient. a short walk or ride gets you into town very easily. the setting is very pretty and conducive to peaceful exploration of the area.

the location was indeed special, right next to the river. the staff were very friendly and helpful (they always had a smile). i had dinner and breakfast, and both were excellent. i especially liked the river view from the dining area.
the en-suite had a slight unpleasant smell. i felt the price was a bit too high considering the overall hotel experience. while i understand check-in was at 3 pm, arriving earlier meant a bit of a wait, and it reminded me of they could have tried to accommodate us sooner.
